Tensile strength and elongation at break refer to the maximum force that the packaging material can bear before breaking and the elongation at break. By testing this index, it can effectively solve the problem of loose and damaged packaging caused by poor toughness of POF shrink film.
Shrink film is a commonly used outer packaging material at present. It is generally used for outer packaging and cluster packaging in industries such as food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and daily necessities. It generally has high transparency, high shrinkage, high toughness, high heat-sealing performance, antistatic, Excellent characteristics such as cold resistance. However, if the toughness of the POF shrink film is poor, it is easy to cause the bound products to loosen or fall off, and it is also easy to break or have poor elasticity during use. Therefore, all enterprises should strengthen the monitoring of the toughness related indicators of POF shrink film to ensure its excellent toughness.
Test instrument
This test refers to the method requirements in GB/T 1040.3-2006 "Determination of Tensile Properties of Plastics Part 3: Test Conditions for Thin Plastics and Sheets", which is a test standard for the toughness of flexible plastic packaging. The instrument uses the LTS-05 intelligent electronic tensile testing machine independently developed and produced by Link Testing to test the tensile strength and elongation at break of the sample.
LTS-05 intelligent electronic tensile testing machine is an electronic tensile testing machine professionally used to test the tensile properties of various flexible packaging materials and other mechanical properties. It is suitable for plastic films, adhesives, adhesive tapes, self-adhesives, and medical patches. Tensile, peeling, deformation, tearing, heat sealing, adhesion, puncture force and other performance tests of protective film, combined cover, back sheet material, non-woven fabric, rubber, paper fiber and other products.
Test principle: The sample is clamped between the two chucks of the fixture, and the two chucks move relative to each other. The force value during the test is collected through the force sensor on the movable chuck and the displacement sensor built in the machine. Changes and displacement changes, so as to calculate the tensile, tearing, deformation rate and other performance indicators of the sample.
Test sample and test process
Test sample: POF shrink film sample provided by an enterprise.
Experimental procedure:
(1) Use a sampler to cut 5 strips of 15 mm wide and 200 mm long strips from the sample horizontally and vertically.
(2) Clamp both ends of the sample on the upper and lower clamps of the equipment respectively, and the direction of the long axis of the sample should coincide with the center line of the upper and lower clamps.
(3) Set the test speed, sample width and other parameter information.
(4) Click the test start option to start the test.
(5) The instrument automatically calculates and displays the final test results.
Test Results and Analysis
The longitudinal breaking force of the sample tested in this test is 27.793 N, the tensile strength is 142.518 MPa, and the elongation at break is 82.9%; the transverse breaking force is 32.412 N, the tensile strength is 148.594 MPa, and the elongation at break is 87.7% .
